September 17, 2018 – The Local Government Unit of Lamut expressed its unwavering commitment to establish a clean and healthy environment and to protect and conserve the ecosystem as it institutionalizes the annual search for the cleanest and greenest barangay. Municipal Ordinance No. 2018 -18 -13, authored by Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Member Maria Victoria Grace G. Macadaeg seeks to encourage the different barangays of Lamut to actively participate in the pursuit and realization of a clean and green municipality.
The contest shall start every month of June until March of the following year. The evaluation shall be on a quarterly basis and announcement of winners and awarding of prizes shall be conducted during the annual RAMBAKAN Festival of the municipality. Criteria for judging shall include Proper Garbage Segregation and Disposal for 25 %, Beautification and Cleanliness for 25 %, Tree Planting Activities / Gulayan sa Barangay for 20 %, Presence of Barangay Ordinances / Executive Orders Supporting the Clean and Green Program, Presence of Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and Documentation all three (3) of which shall contribute 10 % respectively.
Aside from the cash prize, a certificate and plaque of recognition shall be given to the winners which shall be judged by the Committee to be chaired by the Local Chief Executive, Atty. Mariano B. Buyagawan, Jr., co-chaired by the Municipal Environment, and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO), Mrs. Karen C. Pawid, along with representatives from selected municipal and national offices and private sector as committee members.
