A total of 1158 or about 64.3 average household members per barangay in the 18 Barangays of the municipality of Lamut are PANTAWID or 4Ps program participants. These participants were encouraged to “GO ORGANIC” and “GO BIG” after the conduct of Family Development Session “FDS” on the environmental education and information and organic agriculture orientation.

It was agreed among the participants to produce organic fertilizer maximizing the segregation of compostable garbage from the kitchen and house surrounding garbage to be placed in compost pit for organic farming inputs. While, the none compostable materials will be washed and kept for sale or delivered to Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) near the community.

Another agreement was to “GO BIG” or establishments of Home gardens using the BIO-Intensive Gardening “BIG” technology to provide “Food Always In The Home” (FAITH) by planting chemical free organic vegetable to vibe with the #8 priority development agenda of Mayor Mariano B. Buyagawan Jr. in particular and the main program of the LGU on Sanitation and Nutrition.

In November 2014 FDS, follow up activities were conducted on the provision of Technological aspect by providing vermi cast using banana leaves for potting materials, likewise, the provision of assorted root, leafy fruits and legiums, vegetable seeds that were planted during the FDS conduct.

It is expected that in December 2014, Pantawid participants will be planting the potted vegetables to BIO-Intensive Gardens using compost fertilizers from their compost pit. While, the monitoring and provision of technological aspect is expected to the success of the project. #Albert Butangon
