Members of the Lamut Values Formation and Chaplaincy Office (VFCO), and the Lamut Association of Ministers and Pastors (LAMP) will be formally requesting the members of the Sangunian Bayan of Lamut to amend the Sunday market schedule as provided by section 11 of Municipal Ordinance 01-2012. This particular section provides that Sunday and Thursday are the market days of Lamut.
In an interview with Father Armand Quindo , Mission Rector of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Mission, he said “the common stand of the LAMP is that the Lord’s day that falls on a Sunday is a longtime tradition among the Christian believers not only here in Lamut but throughout the whole world where there are Christians.
Judge Leticia Morales (Ret.), VCFO Officer and President of the Provincial Association of Senior Citizens said that the VCFO and the Senior Citizens will work-in-hand with the civil society and the private sector for the amendment of the Sunday market as provided by Section 11 of the Lamut Market Code.
On the other hand, some residents of Lamut who are working abroad and in other distant places have raised their objections in the internets for the reason that the Sunday market is a traditional practice of the people of Lamut.
Mayor Mariano Buyagawan said that the issue on amending the Sunday market day schedule is an interesting and hot issue that should be featured on a stage debate during the forthcoming Rambakan 2014 if the Rambakan schedule permits. #Rosito B. Malingan
