Mongilit Ligmayo National High School of Ambasa, Lamut, Ifugao has been very fortunate for having the Local Government Unit of Lamut, Headed by Atty. Mariano B. Buyagawan, Jr., as a benefactor to the different activities of the school that help in the improvement of the performance of the students and teachers as well as for the physical improvement of the school.

The Municipal Population Office through Mrs. Shirley B. Leonen as the Officer – In- Charge, funded four seminars since 2013. The seminar on responsible Parenthood and Adolescent Health and Development Program to selected parents and all third and fourth year students were simultaneously held on July 23, 2013.

Also, the Basic Integrated Theater Arts Workshop was conducted on August 16-18, 2014. After this theater arts workshop was done, the students have been performing to school activities and participating to the different DepEd and LGU culminating activities such as the 2014 Town Fiesta, the Nutrition Month celebration held in the Lamut Central School on July 26, 2014, the LGU Family Day which was conducted in Regimental, Magulon, Lamut, Ifugao on September 26, 2014 and during the Children’s month celebration held on October 28, 2014 at the Lamut gymnasium.

In addition to this, a 2-day Seminar for Personality Development and Basic Life Skills was lately conducted on October 30-31, 2014 to the selected male students of the school. All of these trainings were successfully done with the assistance of the trainers from the Ifugao Provincial Population and Sustainable Development and Ifugao Youth Development Division.

On July 31, 2014, the Bureau of Fire Protection through the team of SFO2 Abelardo B. Batton,OIC,Municipal Fire Marshall conducted an orientation on how to behave when earthquake and fire occur. After the lecture was the earthquake drill and the demonstration of how to use the fire distinguisher in case of fire which was participated by some of the teachers and students.

On the other hand, the Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) through Mr. Junifer Ngannoy and his team, trained the thirty eight selected students to be first aiders during the 3-day training on First Aid and Basic Life Support held on September 5-7, 2014.

Likewise, with the coordination of the barangay officials with the LGU, another road rehabilitation going to the high school from the barangay hall was opened on the 2nd week of September 2014. It was timely for the request of the school because a new loader was acquired by the LGU. The expenses for the fuel used came from the shared cash from the School’s PTA fund, barangay fund and from the LGU fund.

Lastly, is the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office with Mrs. Juanita G. Puguon as the Officer in Charge supported the 5-day Peer Assistance Leadership Training that was successfully conducted on October 20-22, and November 7-8, 2014.

This Peer Assistance Leader program known as PAL, has been develop as a substance abuse prevention program for schools and their teenage students by the stall of the provincial/municipal social welfare and development office. The PAL program was developed to help schools assist teenager to help other teenagers with common problems within the context of the school. The trainers of the said training came from the PSWD, Plan International and DepEd. Meanwhile, the 1st PAL graduation day is scheduled on December 5, 2014 to be held in MLNHS.# Jennifer L. Dulnuan
