In observance of the Tourism month celebration, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lamut through the collaborative effort of the Municipal Tourism Department headed by Harvey D. Gumayon in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Ifugao, through Negosyo Center Lamut, spearheaded the launching of the municipality’s first-ever Tourism Week dubbed as Gastro-Horti-Cultural Trade Fair as it signaled the formal kick-off activity – along with a short program earlier today, 05 September 2022 at Lamut Tourism Village, Mabatobato, Lamut, Ifugao.

With the theme “Experiencing and Rediscovering Lamut,” said initiative aims to promote and institutionalize tourism activities in the municipality of Lamut.

Tourism Operations Officer I, Harvey D. Gumayon emphasized the importance of effective branding which resulted in the context of Gastro-Horti-Cultural as it exactly mirrors the image of Lamut. He stressed the derivation of Gastro as to food; Horti as to plants and ornamentals; and Cultural as to locally produced products.

In addition, Gumayon also encouraged everyone to show their oneness and to support the activity as it is still new to the community.

Meanwhile in his welcoming remarks, Hon. Reneboy D. Millano, as represented by Hon. Doreen Banhan, expressed her excitement over the activity and welcomed all the attendees present at the event.

Municipal Mayor Hon. Victomar H. Bunnol also known as the “father of the municipality,” lauded all the officials and employees behind the success of the opening activity of the trade fair.

In his message, he shared the laid-out plans of his administration to boost booming tourism in Lamut and also discussed the importance of patronizing locally made products and food hubs.

Along with this, the Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry, Engr. Lino Cungihan, who graced the event challenged all the exhibitors to display their most first-rate products to whip up customers.

“Indeed, there is something in tourism. You should be happy and feel blessed for this is an opportunity for you to make some money to test the salability of your products and if not, find effective and alternative ways on how to improve your products to make them sellable to the public,” remarked Cungihan.

Hon. Everda Desiree D. Dulinayan, who concluded the short program gave options and introduced locally-owned restaurants and products that the people of Lamut should patronize instead of going outside the province.

At the event were Sangguniang Bayan members, department heads, barangay captains, and the community.

The week-long celebration shall run from September 05 until 27 of 2022 and gates will open from 9 o’clock in the morning up until 9 o’clock in the evening.
