Last August 6, 2018 the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), thru its representative Mr. Donald C. Trinidad, handed an equipment package which included three (3) desktop computer units, one (1) unit all-in-one ink tank printer, one (1) unit IR network camera and one (1) dual-band gigabit router to the Local Government Unit of Lamut during the regular flag raising ceremony. The donated equipment package is the result or product of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed between the DICT and LGU- Lamut, represented by the Local Chief Executive, Atty. Mariano B. Buyagawan, Jr., after being granted authority by the Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 2018-18-052.

The DICT, an office existing by virtue of Republic Act No. 10844, is mandated to be the primary policy, planning, coordinating, implementing and administrative entity of the Executive Branch of the Government that will plan, develop, and promote the national Information and Communications Technology (ICT) development agenda. In line with its mandate, the DICT thru Mr. Trinidad, as a guest during Question Hour of the 88th Regular Session of the 18th Sangguniang Bayan, made known the target or aim of the department which is primarily to bridge the digital divide by establishing Tech4ED Centers which shall enhance the socio-economic condition of Filipinos and provide inclusive growth to the country. The Tech4ED Project aims to cater Out-of-School Youth and Adults (OSYA), women, teachers, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families and relatives, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Senior Citizens, Indigenous people (IPs), and entrepreneurs, as its target market or end-users.

The Municipal Vice-Mayor, Atty. Adryan B. Chaguile, along with the Municipal Administrator, Mr. Carlito T. Bata, Heads and representatives of offices formally accepted the equipment package. The Vice-Mayor, in behalf of the LGU-Lamut and its constituents, expressed gratitude for the donated equipment package and reassured the DICT representative, Mr. Trinidad, of the LGU’s commitment to promote community development through the use of information and communications technology which shall lead towards a more effective and efficient governance in the municipality and consequently the whole country.
