The municipal compound of Lamut was jam-packed at around 5 o’clock in the afternoon on December 5, 2014 by a huge crowd coming from the different places in the municipality of Lamut and even from the adjacent towns of Ifugao and Nueva Vizcaya.
Mayor Mariano Buyagawan Jr., switched on the twinkling lights of the giant Christmas tree mounted in front of the municipal building to signify the yuletide season kick-off with the theme: CLEAN CONSCIENCE is a continual Christmas.
The highlight of the occasion is the lantern parade marshaled by the Philippine National police and trailing behind were the drum and lyre of the Lamut Central School, Non-Government Organizations, Line Agencies, Barangay Delegations and the Municipal Local Government Unit. The contesting agencies, organizations and barangays are: National Irrigation Administration, Barangay Holowon, Department of Environment and natural Resources, Barangay Poblacion West, Lamut Public Market Vendor Association, Barangay Salamague, Barangay Panopdopan, Barangay Nayon, Barangay Poblacion East, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Barangay Magullon, Barangay Pieza, Barangay Mabatobato, Barangay Ambasa, Department of Education (DepEd), Barangay Sanafe, Lamut Federation of Women Organization (LAFEDWO), Barangay Bimpal, Barangay Hapid.
and the National Association of Chaplainship of the Philippines (NACPHIL).
The winners of the parade and lantern contest are:
1st– Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)
2nd– Lamut Public Market vendors Association (LPMVA)
3rd– Barangay Panopdopan
4th Barangay Pieza
5th– Barangay Poblacion East
The BFP were also the winner who garnered the first place during the 2013 lantern and parade contest, their Christmas lantern is made of a carved wood star mounted on a tricycle and decorated with a paper formed reindeer escorted by the blown up uniformed BFP clown.
At the end of the program it started to rain due to the effect of typhhon RUBY but the people instead of dispersing, gathered at the municipal gymnasium for a public supper.
