Lamut, Ifugao– The cool breeze is now in the heart of Lamut as we welcomed the month of December with a lantern Parade, lighting of the Christmas tree, launching of the night market and an open concert at the municipal compound.
Trucks and farm trailers were seen unloading participants from the 18 barangays of Lamut, Ifugao and flocked at the municipal compound at 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon to participate on the events sponsored by the municipal government.
“ Manipud idi datuy ti kaatidugan nga parada nga nakitak dituy ili .” said one of the observer and a student commented “ Kasla metten fiesta.”
These activities were overwhelming, that’s why treasurer Jet Lumauig, chairman of the food committee, was alarmed that the food might not be enough to feed the multitude. Mayor Buyagawan, appealed to the Poblacion residents to give way to the people from the far barangays to take their food first.
To his opening remarks, Municipal Administrator Carlito T. Bata, acknowledged the unexpected number of participants to the contest including the viewing public that graced the occasion. “ Thank you very much for responding to the invitation of the municipal government. Your overwhelming attendance is a manifestation of your support to the activities of our local government.
The most awaited parts were the lighting of the Christmas tree by Mayor Buyagawan and the launching of the night market to last until January 1, 2014. In his inspirational message, he said that the purpose of holding a Christmas celebration is to feel the true spirit of Christmas and that is the coming or the rebirth of Jesus Christ in our hearts.
The night lasted with a cool and light music from an open concert rendered by Brixio production. #Kate B. Campollo
